Longborough Opera - Tannhauser image
Longborough Festival's investigation of Wagner's operas continues this Summer with the largest cast to appear on Lonborough's stage. Wagner's Tännhauser is the featured opera this year, as usual Alan Privet directs with Anthony Negus conducting. John Treleaven and Neal Cooper share the title role with Erika Mädi Jones as Elisabeth, Alison Kettlewell as Venus and Hrolfur Saemundsson as Wolfram. No word, so far on which version they are doing.

The season continues with Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro directed by Thomas Guthrie with Grant Doyle as Figaro, Benjamin Bevan and Susanna Fairburn as the Almavivas, Beate Mordall and Lucy Hall sharing Susanna and Anna Harvey as Cherubino. Robert Houssart conducts. Lee Bisset (who sang Isolde in Longborough's 2015 production of Tristan und Isolde) will be singing the title role in Janaceck's Jenufa with Gaynor Keeble as Kostelnicka, Daniel Norman as Laca and Andrew Rees as Steva. Jonathan Lyness conducts and Richard Studer directs. The final opera is Jenny Miller's production of Handel's Alcina, conducted by Jeremy Silver with Julia Sitkovetsky as Alcina, Lucy Hall as Morgana, Hanna-Liisa Kirchin as Ruggiero and Anna Harvey as Bradamante.

Longborough Festival runs from 9 June to 4 August 2016, full details from the festival website.

  1. If we go Local, United Arab Emirates, Dubai has created 2 major festivals, the Dubai Shopping Festival, Dubai Summer Surprises and looking at birth years of these festivals, we will see that the government efforts behind it were massive, that each government department had a hand and participation in each festival and a planning body was created to be in control directing these combined efforts.see more at-festivals
