I will be singing with London Concord Singers when they give their first concert with their new musical directer Jessica Norton next week. The concert takes place on the Wednesday of Holy Week, 23 March 2015, at the Church of St Botolph without Bishopsgate, EC2M 3TL near Liverpool Street Station, and presents a musical journey through events of Holy Week. The programme tells the events of Holy Week in musical form, combining contemporary works by John Tavener, James MacMillan, Gabriel Jackson and Robert Hugill with motets and anthems by Bruckner, Brahms, Weelkes and Byrd, concluding with JS Bach's great motet Jesu, meine Freude.
The concert includes James MacMillan's darkly dramatic Tenebrae Responsories, inspired by Victoria's settings and written in 2006 for Capella Nova in Scotland. Also included will be John Tavener's The Lamb, Gabriel Jackson's O Sacrum Convivium and my motet Resurrexi setting the Latin Introit for Easter Day, the motet comes from Tempus per Annum a collection of 70 motets for the Church's year.
Tickets are available on-line from EventBrite.
